An expansive city in Fairfax County, Springfield sits just south of Annandale and Alexandria. Springfield's public transit connectivity facilitates easy commutes in both directions. As usual in Northern Virginia, government contractors are concentrated here as well. Major employers include Booz Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics, Leidos, and Lockheed Martin, among many others.
Office tenants are drawn to this area because of its cluster of highly educated workers. Half of the adults here have a bachelor’s degree or higher. In addition, Springfield is close to a range of unique recreational opportunities, from George Washington’s home in Mt. Vernon, the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, and St. James, which offers everything from baseball to swimming in a sprawling facility measuring nearly half a million square feet.
